Friendships have a powerful influence on our lives and on the decisions we make. God wants to help you choose relationships that bring peace, respect, and growth. A healthy friendship never encourages things that hurt other people, and it never leads you to stop being who God created you to be.

Lucas started spending more time with a group of classmates who were always making fun of other students and enjoyed making certain people feel bad.

At first he only watched. Little by little, though, he began repeating some of those attitudes so the group would accept him.

One afternoon, after hearing the comments they made about another classmate, something inside him felt uneasy. He knew it wasn't right.

When he got home, he talked with his dad about what he was feeling. That's when he understood something important: not every friendship helps us grow.

Sometimes the desire to belong leads us to chase the approval of people or places that slowly shape the way we think and act in the wrong direction.

God doesn't want your life to be one long search for acceptance. He wants to help you choose relationships that bring peace, respect, and growth.

Healthy friendships don't pressure you to do what is wrong or to give up who you are. On the contrary, they encourage you to grow and become a better person.
