Reflection

Your heart needs places and relationships that bring peace and emotional safety. God wants to help you tell the difference between what strengthens you inside and what wears you down. Learning to care for your emotional space is part of growing up, part of wisdom, and part of being healthy on the inside. Valentina had a group of friends she spent a lot of time with. As the days went by, though, she started to notice that some of their conversations always left her insecure, sad, or pressured to act in ways that did not bring her peace.

At first she tried to ignore it, because she did not want to be alone or to start a conflict. Little by little, though, she understood something important: not every place is good for the heart.

After talking with her mom, she began to make small decisions to take better care of her own emotions and her own peace of mind.

That did not mean she stopped loving those friends. It meant she was learning to recognize which relationships and which places were affecting her on the inside.

God cares about the care of our heart too.

There are conversations, places, and attitudes that bring peace. Others fill the heart with anxiety, pressure, or a sadness that never lets up.

Caring for your emotional space is a kind of wisdom too.
