Reflection
There will be moments when you are not chosen first, not recognized, not understood. And even though that hurts, it does not define who you are. People cannot always see all the worth that is inside someone. But God sees all of you. Your worth stays the same, even when others do not notice it.
Sofia had been waiting for that moment. At recess they were going to pick teams, and this time she wanted to be chosen early. One by one, the names were called. Her friends, other classmates... and Sofia was still waiting. With every name that went by, her spirits sank a little further. Until at last she was one of the final ones to be picked.
She walked over to her spot without saying much, but inside she was thinking: “Maybe I am not that good... maybe I am not important.”
Later, at home, her mom noticed that she was not herself. She did not push her. She simply sat down beside her. After a while, Sofia told her what had happened.
Her mom looked at her tenderly and said something Sofia would never forget: “Someone not choosing you first does not change how much you are worth.”
That day Sofia understood something important: your worth is not decided by other people. Sometimes people do not see everything that is inside you. But that does not mean the worth is not there. God sees all of you.
